Painter Vladimir Leben (b. 1971) is known and loved for his accessible, humorous and critical interpretations of humanity's predicaments and delusions through his depictions of animals. At the Zala Gallery, he presents the new series of works Das ist Leben with the accompanying oil painting The Arrival, which refers primarily to the historical role of Spanish fighting dogs in the conquest of the New World. Through this theme, the artist also explores parallels with power relations in the world today.


Slikar Vladimir Leben (1971) je prepoznaven in priljubljen zaradi svojih pristopnih, humornih in hkrati kritičnih interpretacij zadreg in zablod človeštva skozi upodobitve živali. V Galeriji Zala se predstavlja s postavitvijo Das ist Leben, sklopom zadnjih del z nosilno oljno sliko The Arrival, ki se v prvi vrsti nanaša na zgodovinsko vlogo španskih bojnih psov pri osvajanju novega sveta. Skozi to temo avtor raziskuje tudi vzporednice z odnosi moči v sodobnem svetu.

Since 1991, Zala Gallery has been representing, and primarily building its content on the media of painting and sculpture, featuring exhibitions of Slovene and foreign artists and presentations of Slovene art heritage to the broader public; in 1994 the gallery has designed an original project "Generation 82" as the first group project of the current generation of Slovenian fine arts (Prančič, Maršič, Čuber, Stjepič, ...). In celebration of the thirtieth anniversary, a platform was set up within the gallery framework which aims to bring contemporary painting closer to the current generation and, through education and guidance of all collectors, establish new artistically informed generations.
