OHO Film (Damjan Kozole, 2025, 93’)

In Slovenia, Yugoslavia back then, during the years of 1965-1971, an avant-garde movement known as group OHO inspired many artists, including Marina Abramovič. OHO movement was in fact a freedom movement.

OHO is categorized as one of the most interesting, complex and important examples of avant-garde art and counterculture of the 1960s in ex-Yugoslavia and beyond, in Central and Eastern Europe. The OHO documentary, with its rich archival material, aims to comprehensively capture the phenomenon of the OHO movement and group for the first time. At the same time, it aims to capture the spirit of a time marked by socialism, hippie and rock culture, the Vietnam War, the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia, student protests around the world, and the Cold War. A time that we thought was dead and gone but is dangerously returning to its darkest dimensions. In addition to providing historical illumination, the film will follow OHO's ideas via its members’ stories throughout time – all the way to the present day, to explore the relevance of OHO for the present time.

The screening with English subtitles will be followed by a discussion in Slovenian with Tomaž Brejc and Igor Španjol.
