The event will give the applicants of an open call, selected by ETC., a chance to sit down with an international group of renowned curators (Tevž Logar, Mara Ambrožič Verderber, Tereza Jindrová, Ana Simona Zelenović, Caterina Avataneo, Marijana Schneider, Tīna Pētersone & ETC.) and present their work.
This is a closed event, dedicated to connecting artists & curators in a one-on-one setting.
Caterina Avataneo is an independent curator based in Turin. Since 2022 she co-curates the Digital Fellowship programme for Pompeii Commitment. Archaeological Matters – the first long-term, contemporary art programme established by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. She is also part of the Curatorial Board of Cripta747 (Turin); and editorial coordinator at CURA. In 2022 she curated the VII Edition of the Club GAMeC Prize (Bergamo) and in 2021 and 2022 the New Entries section for emerging galleries at Artissima (Turin), as well as a number of national and international exhibitions. In 2019 she was Assistant Curator of Sun & Sea (Marina) Lithuanian Pavilion for the 58th Venice Biennale – awarded the Golden Lion. Before that she worked as Associate Curator at Arcade Gallery (London & Brussels) and as Assistant Curator on assigned projects at Serpentine Gallery (London). She holds an MA in Architecture from Politecnico of Turin (2014) and an MA in Curating from London Metropolitan University and Whitechapel Gallery (2017). She was awarded the 2017 NEON Curatorial Award by The Neon Foundation and Whitechapel Gallery.
Marijana Schneider is an art historian and curator (contemporary art) at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Her focus is on feminist engagement with the body, sculpture and space, and artistic approaches characterized by process orientation and performative thinking. She curated and co-curated the exhibitions Playing Rules! The Collections (2024), Maria Bartuszova (2023), Jasmina Cibic. Political Decadence (2022), Yinka Shonibare CBE. End of Empire (2021), Fiona Tan. Mit der anderen Hand / With the other Hand (2020), Bodies–Cities (2019), amongst many others.
Ana Simona Zelenović is an art historian and curator based in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2021, she was appointed as the art director and head curator of Galerija Novembar, Belgrade, where she worked until 2024. Zelenović holds a Bachelor of Arts (2015) and Master of Arts (2017) in art history from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy and a Master of Arts (2019) in gender studies from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Political Science. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy in the Department of Art History. Her thesis investigates the history of feminist performance art in former Yugoslavia and Serbia. Supplementing her interest in and research of constructivist approaches to understanding gender identity, sexual orientation, and sexuality, she simultaneously studies constructivist psychotherapy at PLK Centar (PLK is an acronym for Psihologija Ličnih Konstrukata, or Psychology of
Personal Constructs), Belgrade. In her practice, she uses an intersectional feminist approach to investigate, analyze, and curate art, focusing on feminist and queer aesthetics and culture. In collaboration with various feminist organizations, she curates exhibitions that explore and concentrate on the position and representation of women, gender, and sexuality. She is co-founder of SELFI Magazine, an annual print journal dedicated to women artists, and a contributing writer for Numéro Berlin. In 2024, she was a curator for Pavillion of Montenegro at Venice Biennale for exhibition by Darja Bajagic titled It Takes an Island to Feel This Good.
Tereza Jindrová is a curator and art writer based in Prague. She works as a curator for the Jindrich Chalupecký Society and Jindrich Chalupecký Award and she also teaches at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague. In general, she is interested in methods of creating curatorial ‘frames’ to layer different interactions between artists, artworks and the public. Recently she has focused on the topic of human-animal relations, environmentalism, rational and irrational aspects of healing, irrational beliefs and magic, and gender stereotypes in the context of artistic creativity.
Tevž Logar is an independent curator, editor and writer who collaborates with various galleries, institutions and collections such as: the 58th Venice Biennale (2019), the Pavilion of the Republic of North Macedonia (curatorial advisor) and the Pavilion of the Republic of Kosovo (writer); the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Łódź; the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Turin; TBA21, Vienna; the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Ljubljana; the Ovidiu Șandor Collection, Temisvar, and many others. He has curated or co-curated a number of group and solo exhibitions, including Larisa Sitar: Robust Boast (2022); When in Doubt, Go to a Museum (2021); Triennial of Croatian Contemporary Art (54th Zagreb Salon) - Without Anaesthesia; Borderline Relation (2018); Ulay: I Other (2017); Vadim Fishkin: Light Chaser (2016); Crossings (2014); Jasmina Cibic: For Our Economy and Culture (Slovenian pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale). In 2014, he was nominated for the Gerrit Lansing Independent Vision Award, awarded by the Independent Curators International in New York. He lives in Rijeka, Croatia.
Mara Ambrožič Verderber is an expert in art institutional building, a curator and a contemporary art critic. She gained her experience in the field of contemporary art in Europe, England, USA and Canada. After her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, she completed her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the IUAV University of Venice. More recently she was awarded a scholarship by the renowned School of Art and Design of the LJMU University in Liverpool, where she is finishing her doctoral dissertation.
Tīna Pētersone is an independent curator from Riga, Latvia, holding an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2020, Tina won the first "Young Curator!" prize at the Riga Photography Biennial. In 2021, she co-founded the art space TUR and developed an exhibition program, two of which have been nominated for the Purvītis Prize, the most prestigious art award in Latvia. In 2022, Tina was selected by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia to partake in the Cité Internationale des Arts residency in Paris in January 2022. She was also granted the CEC ArtsLink International Fellowship and a residency hosted by the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago, IL, USA. In 2023, she received the Baltic Fellowship to work at Performa Biennial in New York City. Her most recent projects include a large-scale group exhibition, “Field of Vision,” at the art center Zuzeum, and a public programme for the “I Grew Up in the Blockhouse” project at the Riga Summer Culture Programme. Currently, she serves as a guest curator for the ETC. Magazine edition ‘Selling Out’, showcasing artists from the Baltics to the Balkans and at Škuc gallery in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
