Join us for the 3rd edition of LJUBLJANA ART WEEKEND 2024!
For the third year in a row, museums, galleries, project spaces and other art initiatives are participating in a 4-day programme of exhibitions and events, engaging a wide range of artists, curators and art professionals. Admission free and open to the general public every day during the long Weekend from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th of May, between 12.00 and 18.00, Ljubljana Art Weekend invites you to explore our partner network and to discover our city’s exceptional and diverse settings of contemporary art.
In our third year, Ljubljana Art Weekend has joined forces with a fellow local art initiative, ETC. Magazine. Together, we prepared a curated programme to go alongside the established programme of 30 partnership venues, included in the Ljubljana Art Weekend platform. ETC. is an annual magazine committed to showcasing contemporary artistic expressions spanning from the Baltic to the Balkans. They too are celebrating their third birthday: the theme of the third issue of the magazine, Selling Out, directly correlates to the overarching theme of Ljubljana Art Weekend. It delves into the complex realities of paid work, precarious employment, self-fulfillment through labor, and the perpetual struggle for sustenance. These themes will be explored in discussions and lectures, a round table discussion, a film screening, art walks, studio visits, performances and many more.

Interview
ETC. is an international art magazine published once a year with the aim of creating a medium for showcasing current international and local artistic production as well as establishing a common space in the field of emerging arts ‘from the Balkans to the Baltics’, as their tagline goes.
For the next three years, ETC. Magazine is taking over the artistic direction of LJUBLJANA ART WEEKEND. As our young platforms share many of the same viewpoints and objectives, we decided to join forces and connect the publication’s topic with our Art Weekend programme.
During the preparation of this year's edition, which is thematically connected to the next issue of the magazine, titled Selling Out, we sat down with ETC.’s curator, Lara Mejač, to talk about this year’s programme as well as their vision for future editions.
